Find Your Purpose by Having Fun?

I just did an interview with Guy Sengstock for an
upcoming New Man episode on finding your purpose.
Some of the big things we discussed were “following your heart”, “doing what you love”, “following your passion” -- that kind of stuff. When it comes down to paying bills and feeding kids that kind of advice seems insane. We discuss this and how no matter what, it’s the key to living an amazing life.
That said, yesterday I found this little app for the iPhone called Brushes. I F-CKING LOVE THIS!!
Now -- what in the hell does this have to do with following your passion? Well, many moons ago, I was a young art student at FSU (with a REALLY bad haircut that I thought was cool at the time). I loved to paint and draw and create photos; however, I didn’t dig the static nature of paintings. I was a product of MTV and wanted to see things MOVE. I wanted to see things COME ALIVE.
I wasn’t passionate about still pictures on a wall, so I left graphic design and went into motion design. I learned how to tell stories with moving pictures. This eventually led me to where I am today -- hosting a show that I absolutely love and helping men’s lives ROCK. I never had a plan on how to get here -- I just followed what I loved doing.
So -- back to painting. I had all but forgotten about the joy I found in painting until I found this app. It allows me to create some cool doodles on my (always with me) iPhone without the mess. But here’s the kicker...
Through the magic of iPhones and invisible iPhone leprechauns, the app allows you to create a movie of the painting being created! Now my paintings aren’t static. They MOVE! They’re ALIVE! (Check out the video on this page below to see what I mean)
I’m so freakin’ excited. I love this thing. Thank you, magical iPhone people! You’ve helped make my life so much more enjoyable and passionate. Instead of wasting time online, I’m now CREATING.
So -- What makes you feel alive? How do you play everyday?
Shoot me an email and let me know.
